BattleHero — Crypto NFT Game Analysis

The Power of Stories Over Statistics

We can easily track and measure the numbers of an NFT game, but it is immensely difficult to put a finger on whether the NFT game will be fun. It is dangerous to be obsessed with data and overly confident in evaluation models, because NFT games slip into the category of being dumb and unexplainable. Think along the lines of Snake on Nokia phones, Candy Crush on Facebook and Angry Birds on our App stores. Let’s not forget the classics such as Runescape and Counter-Strike.

If you can turn back in time, would you have known that these games would turn out to be some of the most popular games in our lifetimes? Probably not. Similarly, there are many games out there that had better features, yet they pale in comparison when it comes to adoption. I believe it boils down to fun. We can’t put a number to fun. We can’t show it on a chart or on an excel sheet. It is a feeling that we get when we stumble upon the game. It is the urge to want to try it. In addition to my past picks of NFT games (Thetan Arena, Sipher & Galaxy Fight Club), Battle Hero is one of them for me too.

7 Factors That Determine A Good NFT Game:

Intuitive
1. Is the art style unique?
Battle Hero oozes a cutesy cartoonish vibe (E.g. A mix of Sandbox and Clash Royale) that easily gets you into the game.
2. If this is a non-NFT game, would you play it?
I would try the game if I can easily download it off the APP Store.
3. Is the game genre popular? (MMORPG, MOBA, First-person shooter, etc.)
It is an adorable first-person shooter with different maps and game modes (1v1, 2v2, 5v5, etc.)

Founder and Team’s Past Experiences and Successes
1. Have they created an actual working game?
No, but the team was able to come up with a minimum viable product of a Battle Hero firing range test for all players. I’d prefer this over hundreds of screenshots of a game that is non-testable by players.
2. Are they experienced with integrating blockchain tech into games?
No, but their operational marketplace has been launched pretty early. If they don’t have the experience then, they have more of it now.
3. Do they reveal their faces? (Jokes aside, it adds a layer of credibility.)
They do, in fact, they even show exclusive glimpses of the gameplay on their personal Instagram account.

Roadmap, Whitepaper, Vision, and Tokenomics
1. Is the team meeting deadlines?
In 2021, yes. In 2022, the team missed the deadline of releasing the game’s closed Beta version by end of 2021. However, it is worth noting that the team released it 9 days later on 9 Jan 2022.
2. Are there enough burning mechanics for the in-game coins?
Currently, there are 3 burning mechanics — opening chests, fusion rarity upgrades and buying of characters and weapons on the marketplace.
3. Does the whitepaper makes sense? (E.g. Fluff words with no substance)
The whitepaper can be easily understood. The team’s first language is Spanish, which leaves some room for clarification on the English whitepaper.

Community
1. Is the Discord channel active with a healthy dose of skepticism?
The game has an active Spanish community. The English channel requires more marketing.
2. Are there helpful moderators or team members responding to doubts?
There are at least 2 moderators available at any point in time. All questions are answered within 12 hours.
3. Does the conversations focus more on price action or game development?
There are too few discussions in the English channel to make a fair judgment. Perhaps something is brewing in the Spanish channel.

Genesis Characters
1. Are there tangible benefits from holding genesis characters?
There are no tangible benefits. There are indirect benefits such as being able to participate in the closed Beta.
2. Are the supply of genesis characters capped or are they breedable?
The supply is capped. They are not breedable, but you can fuse them to be stronger.
3. How are genesis characters more superior or unique than Gen 2 characters?
From my understanding, they are not. They are simply limited in editions.

Lending / Renting
1. Is there a minimum lock-up rental period and for how long?

No information has been given so far. Battle Heroes has plans to implement renting, but it is happening at the end of Q1, 2022.
2. Can newcomers rent in-game characters and try the game with ease?
Newcomers can claim a free in-game character and start playing immediately.
3. Is security compromised on either ends (Renter & Rentee) of the trade?
No information has been given so far. Battle Heroes has plans to implement renting, but it is happening at the end of Q1, 2022.

Dynamic
1. What is the hook of the game that players are constantly returning for?
Cute-looking. Easily-understood first-person player shooter gameplay. Different maps and game modes. Think along the lines of Fortnite.
2. Is the game competitive enough to be made into worldwide tournaments?
Yes, but there is a need to implement the bare basics of Counter-Strike such as the throwing of grenades. We can also learn from Valorant as the market leader now.
3. Are there many player-controlled variables that increase the game’s intensity?
Definitely. It isn’t a turn-based game. Think along the lines of a cute, mobile version of Counter-Strike.

5 Factors That Affect The Price Of A NFT Gaming Governance Coin

The earlier you invest in the game, the more risk you take, the more potential reward you reap. Likewise, the later you invest in the game, the less risk you take, the less potential reward you reap. How developed does a game need to be for you to have the confidence to invest in it? We all have different answers.

Official Game’s Marketplace Launch (OpenSea is Secondary Market)
1. Does the marketplace reduce large amounts of transaction fees?

Battle Heroes is currently operating on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) and the team is implementing the integration of Polygon. The fees are dirt cheap.
2. Can the marketplace manage thousands of transactions per second?
The game has yet to receive thousands of transactions per second. We’ll only know that when the Open Beta is out. But, it is worth noting that the marketplace has been operational for months.
3. Is the marketplace intuitive enough for newcomers to rent characters?
I don’t like the idea that I have to login into my wallet to view the marketplace. It deters newcomers from wanting to know more about the game.

Official Game Launch (Not to be confused with Alpha or Beta)
1. Can the game manage over 100k active players per day?
The game has yet to be launched, the Closed Beta will continue till at least the end of Jan 2022.
2. Are automated bots prevented from farming within the game?
I don’t think it is possible for bots to play this game properly? Then again, Thetan Arena has bots.
3. Can players claim their in-game earnings seamlessly into their wallets?
The game has yet to be launched, the Closed Beta will continue till at least the end of Jan 2022.

Major Exchange Coin Listing (E.g. Binance, Coinbase, FTX)
1. Did the IDO / IEO sell out within minutes?
It sold out in less than 2 minutes. If you had bought during the IDO sale and sold at today’s price of BATH being at $0.03791, you would have earned 8x on your initial investment.
2. Is the pre-sale available for everyone or specific tasks need to be done
There was a simple Whitelisting Gleam contest, nothing too crazy.
3. Did the coin stable in price after smaller exchanges/platforms listed it?
It is currently on PancakeSwap and Gate.io. When it was publicly listed, its starting price was $0.037. It hit its peak of $0.095. It is currently back at $0.037. The good thing is it has yet to drop below $0.037. The bad thing is the liquidity provided on both PancakeSwap and Gate.io had little positive impact on the coin.

Available on Google Play Store, Apple App Store and PC
1. Are there bugs to be exploited when the game is played on PC?
The game has yet to be launched, the Closed Beta will continue till at least the end of Jan 2022.
2. Can newcomers try the game without knowing any crypto knowledge
No, newcomers need to have a MetaMask wallet and claim the starter pack. Even though the starter pack is free, a newcomer still needs to know how to download a MetaMask and claim the starter pack.
3. Can newcomers start earning in-game currency with the free character?
Yes, but very little.

Staking (Game’s Governance Coin)
1. What is the minimum lock-in period?
You will receive 1 Lottery Ticket for every $50 worth of BATH put into staking for 15 days. The lottery tickets allow you to win in-game chests, characters and weapons.
2. How much is the annual percentage yield (APY)?
You’re not guaranteed a win for staking, but you’re guaranteed not to lose.
3. Is the process of staking easy to understand and execute for players?
Yes, in fact the staking has been going on for weeks.

Although there are many areas for the team to work on (E.g. Promotion to the English market, being able to view the marketplace without connecting the wallet for newcomers and in-game delay/bugs), I believe the team and the game will do well, especially in Q1 and Q2 of 2022. Look at this working product!

It is a race. Crypto companies are creating games for the first time. Gaming companies are integrating blockchain technology for the first time. At the end of the day, I believe it will always be: Game First, Crypto Second. If the game is fun, the money will come.
