How Can We Rant Constructively?
I will write a proper post after I’m done with my thesis. Till then, feel free to admire my first ever authentic figurine box that I’ve won at 1/3 of its original price from claw machine. Recently, I’ve been schemingly (?) praying for 3 things:
1. I pray that all claw machine stores rig their claw strength settings so badly that the arrogant older folks will spend a ridiculous amount of money till payout to flaunt/justify their skill (or lackthere of).
2. I pray that all claw machine stores will upgrade their standard claws to JS claws to elicit the following throwback effect:
3. I sincerely pray that people will not stop blaming the machines and kind service staff, and start blaming themselves for not learning how to play the game. You don’t curse and swear at the weather when it rains, you simply bring an umbrella the next time that it does. Mind you, you’re playing against the banker! Without a shadow of doubt, the odds are against you. The chances of you winning is slim, unless you scrutinize and understand most or all parts of the rules/game. It is like walking into a game of poker with complete understanding of all mathematical possibilities with months of research done on each player on the table.
Here are some things you may not know about claw machines:
1. A claw is made up of 3 sharp edges. If all 3 sharp edges contain a glove to prevent potential slippage, consider playing the machine. If only 2 sharp edges contain the gloves, you need to catch the soft toy/figurine box primarily with these 2 sharp edges. If only 1 sharp edge contains the glove, and you can’t even pick up the soft toy, walk away. Is it intentional? Duh.
2. If there is a slim circular plate on top of the claw, you cannot swing the claw. It is an anti-swinging plate which also means that when you catch the toy/figurine box, the chances of it being flunked towards the chute is minimal. A foreshadow of this setup also means that the store owners are preventing experts in gaining an advantage, much more to say casual players. Is it intentional? Duh.
3. There are various settings to claw machines, and one prominent setting is that when the claw is positioned further from the chute, it will evoke more strength which means that the toy can be carried from as far as the corner of the machine, all the way to near the chute. Here comes the scammy portion. This setting also means that when the claw is positioned near the chute, it will only have the slightest amount of strength to lift the toy up, and move no further than that. Is it intentional? Duh. But can you outscam the scam? Duh. Hint: height.
4. The seemingly invisible yet overwhelmingly importance of 二收. 0.5 seconds matter. Nothing more, nothing less.
At the rate that I’m going, I should probably own some claw machines, open a master class or both. Alternatively, a casual claw machine influencer (lol!) sounds fun. Anyway, this is merely a rant. I will delete it in due time and replace with more constructive words worthy of your time.
